Sancho and Werner are more creative and clinical than Salah, Mane and Firmino

If it is not broken, do not repair it. That was Jurgen Klopp’s strategy in the transfer market last summer and it seems to have paid off.

After winning the Champions League last season and running Manchester City so close to home, Klopp was so happy with his team that he locked his checkbook and made others rush to new players.

It seems to have worked well. The Reds are about to win a first league title for 30 years and no one would bet that they would win five big trophies this season with the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup in their pocket.

But standing still for too long is going backwards. Klopp was right not to tinker with last summer, but it seems that he is planning a few turmoil at the end of this season.

A central defender is expected to be purchased as a replacement for Dejan Lovren, while more specialized coverage at full back is required. But two names linked to the Reds this week operate in the last third of the field, the area in which Liverpool is blessed with options.

It seems that Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner are on the radar of Liverpool. Both illuminate the Bundesliga and would undoubtedly be excellent acquisitions. But how would they fit around Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino?

Don’t forget Divock Origi, whose cult hero status on Merseyside is safe after his vital interventions in the last 18 months, January when Takumi Minamino, youngsters Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones, as well as Xherdan Shaqiri, signed.

Liverpool is well offensive, but there is definitely a reason to add to their rank instead of entering a replacement name for a departing star.

This week it was announced that Salah will be summoned to represent Egypt at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, while joining Mane in the Africa Cup of Nations when it returns in the winter of 2021.

Liverpool will therefore be their best player without demonstrably before the start of next season and will not be able to select two guaranteed starters for around four games in the middle of the busy winter period.

Werner and Sancho would provide terrifying depth and bring extra facets to the attacking Liverpool game. But how does the Bundesliga pair relate to the devastating trio of Anfield?

Sancho has become one of the best wide players in world football since leaving Manchester City for Borussia Dortmund.

His involvement in the goal, combining the number of goals and assistance, in league work since the start of the 2018-19 campaign is better than Salah, Mane and Firmino.

England’s international international has scored 24 goals and 27 assists in that period, giving him a total of 51. Salah (50), Firmino (33) and Mane (40) all have a shortage of Sancho, while Werner (49) is also better than Firmino and Mane.

Sancho has also managed to play those songs considerably less than the stars of Liverpool. He has played 3,991 minutes of the league game since the start of 18-19 minutes, less than Salah (5,142), Mane (4,868) and Firmino (4,689).

It means that Sancho has an excellent number of minutes per goal commitment of 78, comfortably the best with Werner’s closest rival at 88 minutes.

It is true that Dortmund plays in a different system than Liverpool, with Sancho attaching more importance to feeding its center.

Firmino is the creative hub of Liverpool, where Salah and Mane often receive the ball at the crucial moment of an attack instead of the start.

Yet Sancho’s 27 league matches are more than double that of both Firmino and Mane and still a significant increase in Salah’s 14. His number of chances created per 90 minutes is also fantastic.

Sancho cuts the opponent’s defense 2.5 times per game. That is again better than Salah (1.9), Firmino (1.5) and Mane (1.6). He is also more direct and tries 6.9 dribbles per game with a success rate of 54.1 percent.

Salah comes closest to Sancho in dribbles attempted at 4.1, but his pass rate is lower at 49.1 percent. Mane tries 3.5 dribbles per 90 minutes, but only completes 47.9 of them.

Werner has the ability to play anywhere along the front line, but is naturally at home in the middle and uses his scorching pace to break the lines of opposition and cause chaos.

Since the beginning of the 18-29 season, Werner has scored more goals than the stars of Liverpool, apart from Salah, with whom he is at 36. He also has more shots per 90 minutes than anyone else and more shots on goal per game than anyone else in Egypt.

The German international also falls behind the net every 120 minutes, 23 minutes faster than its closest rival Salah. Firmino (234), Mane (148) and Sancho (167) are far behind Werner’s number.

The success of Liverpool, both nationally and in Europe, has been in the last three seasons with very few injuries to their main men in attack.

But especially Mane and Salah, who are confronted with daunting schedules in 2020-21, is this the time that Klopp finally relieves pressure on their shoulders and brings in two world-class stars to carry the load in the pursuit of dominance?
