The British CEO who was caught on video hurling racist abuse from an Asian family in a California restaurant has resigned and severed all ties to his San Francisco-based tech company Solid8.
Michael Lofthouse, 37, explained that he resigned after his racist rant, saying ‘you f *** ing Asian piece of s ** t’ to Jordan Chan and her family celebrating a birthday at Bernardus Lodge and the Lucia Spa restaurant in Carmel Valley on July 4.
He revealed that he will enroll “with immediate effect” in an anti-racist program.
“It is with regret that my initial statement and apology did not go far enough to address my behavior in Carmel last weekend and the steps I need to take. I can confirm that I quit Solid8 and ended all business relationships with immediate effect, “he said.
Michael Lofthouse, the British founder of technology company Solid8, issued a statement on Saturday saying that he has resigned as CEO and shortened all business times with the company. He also said he would immediately enroll in an anti-racist program after he was caught on video (left) throwing racist abuse at an Asian family at a California restaurant
Jordan Chan (back left) posted the images on Instagram. The family celebrated Jenny’s aunt Mari Orosa’s birthday (right back with Mari’s husband Raymond in the front right) on July 4 at Bernardus Lodge and Spa’s Lucia restaurant in Carmel Valley when Lofthouse attacked them with racist comments
He said he was stepping down to avoid ‘dentrimental impact on the people closest to me’ – especially his colleagues at his cloud tech company.
“I have embarked on my journey back to sobriety and immediately enrolled in an anti-racist program,” Lofthouse said in a statement to Fox news on Saturday.
“My comments to the families involved were racist, hurtful and deeply inappropriate. The responses to what has been said are well deserved and I warmly acknowledge that I am an accomplice to a system that allows for this behavior and these broken beliefs, but I am committed to change, ”he added.
He begged the Chan and Orosa families to accept his apologies.
“For the Chan and Orosa families, Gennica Cochran and the Bernardus restaurant, please accept my sincere and sincere apologies, I hope that the conversations and awareness that this incident has created can be a catalyst for necessary change,” he said.
“It is my commitment to you to overcome my problems and be part of the solution for an equal and compassionate future.”
Restaurant server Gennica Cochran has received over 97,000 tips from three GoFundMe accounts of people around the world who were left with heart and soul after seeing her stand up to a racially abusive man in her restaurant. This fundraiser alone raised more than $ 76,000
Cochran told KGO-TV that she can take yoga classes with the money. She’s also trying to figure out a way to send some of the money to others in the service industry
This is the second time Lofthouse has shared his apologies to the families for driving his mean comments to them when they celebrated a birthday.
The technology company of the ‘racist’ boss
Lofthouse’s Solid8 is a cloud tech service company founded in 2017.
The company’s offices are located near the financial district of San Francisco, California.
Solid8 strives to improve their customers’ computer systems and reduce their IT costs by providing network services, infrastructure or business services that store and access data and programs over the Internet instead of a computer hard drive.
On its website, the company, which also provides advice on cyber security, boasts ’38 years of collective experience ‘and says,’ Our team is a decisive problem solver, our broad and in-depth experience means we’ve addressed most situations earlier – meaning that we move quickly from analysis to action, working as an agile team on every project, and quickly drawing talent from our global network of over 100 leading cloud providers. ‘
Solid8’s CEO is Brit Michael Lofthouse, who, according to his now deleted LinkedIn page, graduated from Newcastle Business School in 2005, affiliated with Northumbria University, and emigrated to America in 2010.
But Raymond Orosa, whose wife celebrated their birthday on the day of the incident, says he doesn’t accept Lofthouse’s apology.
“I think he really meant what he said and what he did. I don’t believe his words because his actions speak louder than the words he says, “said Orosa ABC news.
Orosa said the abuse was “full of hatred and anger,” but he still forgives him.
Jordan Chan posted a video of their ugly meeting with Lofthouse last week after flooding them with derogatory comments as she and her family celebrated her aunt’s birthday.
‘Trump’s gonna f ** k you! You guys gotta leave … F *** ing Asian sluts, “he said.
Restaurant server Gennica Cochran intervened in Lofthouse’s rant, kicked him out and escorted out of the restaurant.
After Lofthouse began to swing his abuse, she yelled, “You don’t talk to a guy like that, you have to leave now … They’re valued guys.”
Hailed as an “ everyday hero, ” she has raised more than $ 97,000 in tips from people around the world who called on her to come up to defend the Chan and Orosa families.
A page set up to tip Cochran is titled “A big tip for an everyday hero, and has already raised $ 76,800.
Two other GoFundMe accounts collectively raised $ 21,000 extra – and the money is still pouring in.
Even the mother of the British CEO of technology is ‘totally shocked’ by his behavior, which shows that he has been suffering from addiction problems for quite some time.
“We are devastated and shocked at his behavior,” Linda Lofthouse from rural Northumberland told MailOnline.
“I just want to say that we apologize without reservation to the family and to anyone who has offended it.”
Even Linda Lofthouse, the mother of the British CEO of technology, is ‘totally shocked’ by his behavior and reveals that he has been suffering from addiction problems for quite some time
Lofthouse said her other son, Richard, whose wife Susanna (above) is of Asian descent, had contacted the Chan family to apologize. “We are completely devastated and shocked by his behavior,” she told MailOnline.
Ms. Lofthouse said her son was suffering from addiction problems and was distraught at the thought that someone would consider her family racist.
“We are in a terrible situation. He’s very sick – if he had cancer, people would understand better, but he doesn’t, he has an addiction problem.
“It’s just disastrous, we’ve been dealing with that for a long time.
Ms. Lofthouse further said that her other son, Richard, whose wife Susanna is of Asian descent, had made direct contact with the Chan family.
She said, “We apologized to the family, my son got an answer from them and they understand that we have absolutely no control over what he is doing. He has huge problems. ‘
