San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw suffered a rare Achilles tendon injury in the first half of the Super Bowl against Kansas City on Sunday.

Greenlaw jumped up and down the sideline and then began running onto the field with some teammates when he collapsed holding his left leg.

Then they helped him down in a car.

Greenlaw started all 15 games he played this season and was the team’s second-leading tackler. He is in his fifth NFL season, all with San Francisco.

He was credited with three assists in this game before his injury.

Dre Greenlaw injured his left Achilles tendon while returning to the field in the first half.

The 26-year-old 49ers linebacker was jumping on his toes on the sideline before the injury.

Greenlaw was able to get back on his feet in a reassuring sign for 49ers fans, although he will not return for Sunday’s game.

Greenlaw was devastated after being carted off the field at Allegiant Stadium on Sunday.
