Samsung unveils new foldable flip phone concept

Samsung today teased a new foldable phone concept on stage at the company's developers conference. The new concept, which Samsung has not mentioned, is more like a traditional flip phone thanks to a foldable display with which the device can be folded in two.

The idea behind the concept is to use Samsung's foldable smartphone technology to make it "more compact" and extend it to new form factors for devices.

Samsung didn't spend much time detailing the device, nor when the company plans to make it available, but the company used it as a bridge to discuss an upcoming update of its One UI efforts with Android. "As a pioneer in the folding category, we understand that every innovative form factor requires an equally innovative user experience," Jeong explained.

Samsung has been improving its Android user interface since it launched the Galaxy Fold device earlier this year.
