Describing the departure as “sad and bittersweet”, she told The Daily Telegraph she felt her time had come to an end and was excited about her future.
“I go by instinct a lot. I listen to my gut. I know when it’s time. I’m proud that I leaned on myself enough to say, ‘I’ve done what I can do here,’ and move on,” she said.
“This is not the end. It’s just the end of this chapter.”
The former Sunrise star appeared as a guest host on the matchmaking reality show FWAW in 2022 before beating Natalie Gruzlewski to become the face in 2023.
After shocking fans with the news of his departure, details have emerged of the new contract that Sam is believed to have rejected.
A source claimed that Sam threw in the towel after two seasons as a presenter because Seven wanted to cut her salary, according to Women’s Day.
“Sam wanted money similar to what Natalie Barr and Sonia Kruger have,” the source told the publication.
Sam has had a major career change in recent weeks after confirming he is leaving Seven and Farmer Wants A Wife, with sources claiming Seven wanted to cut his salary.
‘Sam was still getting money from an old breakfast TV deal, and that’s not what you get paid to host a reality show these days.
“She was asking for the same amount that Sonia gets paid for three shows. It wasn’t going to happen. Seven simply didn’t have the money.”
They went on to claim that Seven also refused to allow Sam more “creative control” on the reality show.
After 21 years at Seven, where his salary once reached $500,000 a year, Sam’s agents are said to be arranging meetings with Nine and Ten.
Samantha will still appear at the upcoming Logies, with her show Farmer Wants A Wife nominated for Best Structured Reality Programme, but she will not be returning to present the next series of the show, which is currently in pre-production.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted representatives for Seven and Sam for comment at the time.
