A coroner has confirmed the cause of death for beloved KTLA and Hollywood Uncensored host Sam Rubin.
The 64-year-old died in May of a heart attack after suffering a massive blockage in his coronary artery.
Rubin suffered a heart attack at his Los Angeles home after doing his regular Hollywood news segment that morning.
The multiple Emmy Award winner was a recognized figure in the West Coast news industry and had covered entertainment, movies and television for KTLA since 1991.
Veteran reporter Sam Rubin died at age 64 in Los Angeles in May.
Throughout his decades-long career, Rubin interviewed some of the world’s most famous faces, including Mariah Carey, primarily through his show Hollywood Uncensored with Sam Rubin.
She hosted 120 episodes of the show, as well as covering entertainment news and red carpets.
He was survived by his wife Leslie and four children, and in a touching tribute, KTLA said he would be remembered for his “laughter, charm and warm personality.”
“Sam was a giant in the local news and entertainment industry and a fixture on Los Angeles morning television for decades,” the network said after his death.
“Sam was a loving husband and father – the roles he cherished most. Our thoughts are with Sam’s family during this difficult time.”
He is survived by his wife Leslie (pictured together) and four children.
Hours before her death, Rubin shared her final post on social media while promoting her final interview.
She sat down with actress Jane Seymour to discuss her new Netflix film, Irish Wish, and Rubin showed them together in an Instagram post.
After sharing the post, several former interviewees took advantage of it to pay tribute to the presenter and remember their time on air with him.
Actress Selma Blair recalled: “You were the first interview I ever did on the air and one of the last. I feel so lucky to have seen and known you for so many years. Oh Sam! It’s a sad time knowing you’re not here on this Earth. Your memory will be a blessing. Another one of my favorites! Thank you for your humanity.”
While actress Laura Marano wrote: “This really doesn’t feel real… Sam, you will be sorely missed. The morning news won’t be the same without you.”
Actress Daphne Zuniga said: “I love you, your family and your loved ones. Sam Rubin always made me happy!”
Hours earlier, she posted on her social media her latest interview with actress Jane Seymour.

ENews presenter Jason Kennedy wrote: “We all loved you Sam,” and entertainment journalist Liam McEwan said: “Rest in peace bro. We’ll miss you on the carpets.”
Seymour also posted a tribute with a photo of them together from the interview.
She wrote: ‘Hard to believe I was just yesterday with @samontv. I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing. He was always kind, happy and always willing to offer help with any project I was involved in. We will miss you Sam.’
Perry Sook, Nexstar chairman and CEO, called Rubin an icon and beloved member.
“Sam was an icon in Los Angeles and the entertainment industry and was a beloved member of our Nexstar Nation. My prayers are with his family and the KTLA family as we mourn his passing. He will be missed,” she said.
Rubin had received multiple Emmy Awards, a Golden Mic Award for Outstanding Entertainment Reporter and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association.
He was also named Best Entertainment Reporter by the Press Club of Los Angeles.
In 2013, Rubin received the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s Impact Award for outstanding integrity in broadcast journalism, and was also known for supporting several organizations including the MS 150 Bay to Bike Tour along with Los Angeles schools and literacy programs.
