Singer Sam Moore, who performed as half of the Grammy-winning R&B duo Sam & Dave, has died at the age of 89.
Moore died in Coral Gables, Florida, after suffering complications from surgery.
The hitmaker was known for his 1960s chart hits Soul Man, I Thank You and Hold On I’m Coming.
He first showed talent for music while singing in church and later became MC for the King O’ Hearts Club in Miami.
It was there where he met Dave Prater, who would become his bandmate, and with whom he would be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992.
