‘Life is good, life is great’: Sam Armytage gets candid about her new life in the Southern Highlands after leaving Sunrise last month

Sam Armytage is really enjoying her life after sunrise.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph on Monday, the former Channel Seven host said, “Life is good, life is great.”

Since leaving the breakfast show, the 44-year-old has been taking it easy on her husband Richard Lavender’s Southern Highlands estate.

“We let Dad stay for a few weeks, and he’s pretty healthy … As can be expected,” she added.

Sam’s father, Mac, suffered a stroke in November, but is now on his way to recovery.

‘It’s only been a few weeks so I’ve had a quiet time and haven’t spoken to anyone,’ she added, referring to her former Sunrise co-hosts.

Last month, Sam posted an image to Instagram of herself and Richard, 61, in a car, fighting the cold weather.

A radiant Sam wore a fisherman’s hat and blue turtleneck, while Richard looked relaxed in a black windbreaker.

In the caption, Sam quoted some advice her late mother, Libby, had given her, saying she was embarking on a “new chapter” in her life.

Sam officially signed off from Sunrise earlier this month, after an impressive eight-year run on Australia’s most popular breakfast show.

Her announcement of resignation followed months of rumors that she was preparing to spend more time with Richard and her dog Banjo on his estate.

Sam started dating Richard in April 2019 and announced their engagement last June.

She tied the knot with the millionaire businessman on New Year’s Eve, at a special ceremony at his home in the Southern Highlands.

Their intimate wedding ceremony only included a small number of guests due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with Richard’s daughters, Sasha and Grace, in attendance.
