Former Everton manager Sam Allardyce has sensationally revealed that he knew the club was going to take him out of his position two months before they did.

Allardyce was hired last season to save the club that had gone into free-kick after a poor start to the season by Ronald Koeman and little improvement under interim manager David Unsworth.

The former England boss had difficulties at Goodison, however, and now he has opened up on the whole affair that finally saw him fired from the position he admitted was the biggest in club football.

Speaking to Goals on SundayAllardyce revealed: "I went to Everton, not to do a job of 'save me', but to go build a big club like that for bigger things.

"With good finances behind, which has been what Everton has been lacking for several years, it would have been the right way, but it was not like that.

"In the end, I knew I was going about two months before I left."

The riots had grown around Allardyce, with sections of the fan base calling for his departure.

The 63-year-old says his vast experience in the game helped him realize the various signs that the end was near.

"I'm too old and too wise not to know what's going on behind the scenes," Allardyce added.

"If they thought they were keeping it quiet, they did not know how many people they knew and what happened behind the scenes, but I remained professional."
