Sally Field has revealed she still doesn’t know “what’s left” of her home after the deadly Palisades fire devastated her neighborhood.
The Forrest Gump star bought her Pacific Palisades home in 2012 for $2.3 million, but was forced to evacuate like many other Los Angeles residents last week.
The Oscar winner, 78, said in an Instagram post on Monday that she still “hasn’t seen what’s left of my house” but believes it “could” have survived thanks to heroic firefighters.
In his post, Field shared the view from his home as the fire began to advance through the Pacific Palisades area on Tuesday, January 7, fueled by dry brush and wind gusts of up to 100 miles per hour.
“This is the progression of what I’ve seen over the last week since I was able to see the start of the fire from my backyard,” he said on social media, beginning with a photo of brown smoke rising over a lush green hillside.
Another snap from the carousel shows orange and red flames heading towards more homes, including star Brady’s 80th. “I was out with my dog and the clothes I was wearing when the flames started reaching the ridge,” he wrote, describing the terrifying episode.

January is typically the rainy season in Southern California, but the Los Angeles area hasn’t had a major storm since February 2024, according to The weather network.

Firefighters took advantage of lighter winds Monday to clear containment lines around the Palisades and Eaton fires, the latter of which affected Altadena and Pasadena.
Field is among approximately 88,000 people who have been evacuated from their homes. Another 85,000 people are under evacuation warning, according to NBC Los Angeles.
Air quality remains poor in the region and residents who go out are encouraged to wear 95 masks to protect their lungs from dangerous particles in the air.
