Daily Mail Australia understands the alleged incident that occurred last Friday while Mehajer was returning to his cell.
It is understood that Mehajer allegedly grabbed the prison officer's wrists and then kicked the door of his cell several times, striking the officer.
The former Auburn council mayor has been behind bars in Cooma since he was convicted on charges of electoral fraud earlier this year.
Mehajer's confrontation with the officer comes just weeks after he lost a court battle in case the police could take pictures of his heavily tattooed legs.
Detectives claim that the tattoos on his right leg will link him to an alleged handover of cash that was captured on the CCTV images.
Mehajer had opposed photography for "private and personal" reasons.
It is understood that the tattoos include a face that resembles his ex-wife, Aysha, the initials & # 39; SM & # 39 ;, dollar signs and the word & # 39; millionaire & # 39 ;.

The police affidavit also reveals that the meeting, where $ 1250 was exchanged, was related to a car accident that Mehajer allegedly orchestrated to avoid a court hearing.
Mehajer was accused of perverting the course of justice for the alleged false accident that he denies.
He was granted bail on charges of automobile accidents, but was later sentenced to the 11-month prison sentence he is currently serving.
