The Prince of Wales became a movie star in his own right as the focus of a brilliant video filmed at the BAFTAs last night and shared by Kensington Palace on Instagram.

William, 42, was not planning to attend the event due to his wife Kate’s recovery from abdominal surgery.

But it was recently revealed that he would make a solo appearance as president of the organization, a position he has held since 2010.

When the Prince of Wales, 42, arrived alone at yesterday’s awards ceremony, he apologized for the Princess of Wales’s absence as she continues to recover at her family home following her operation.

Looking dapper in his signature navy velvet suit jacket and bow tie, he told organisers: “I’m sorry Catherine isn’t here, she loves the BAFTAs.”

However, he didn’t let his wife’s absence stop him from making the most of the evening.

He was seen in the official Kensington Palace video happily posing for photographs with members of the public while walking the red carpet.

Speaking about her recent stressful time, the royal told her fellow BAFTA attendees that she hasn’t seen several of the films that have been nominated for the honors.

These include the blockbuster Barbie.

In fact, William, who has been focusing on his family following his wife’s medical procedure and the shock of his father, King Charles’, cancer diagnosis, said he hadn’t seen as many nominated films as usual.

He admitted that he had “other things on his mind.”

Between clips in the short, brilliant video, William is seen smiling as he and David Beckham hold hands.

Along the way, he talks to a variety of people, including fans and staff, as well as stars of the big and small screen.

Last night’s awards marked the first high-profile royal engagement Prince William has made since his wife’s major operation and his father’s cancer diagnosis.

Kate underwent surgery on January 16 at the London Clinic and has since returned to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor to be with her three children.

She has attended the event with William since 2017, and made headlines last year for her daring outfit in a white one-shouldered dress and elbow-length black gloves.

It was a recycled Alexander McQueen dress that had some modifications made after wearing it for the first time at the event in 2019.
