Liverpool star Sadio Mane has gone on to transform his hometown of Bambali in Senegal, having spent more than £700,000 on new buildings, including a hospital, school, post office and petrol station.

Mane, who looks set to leave Anfield this summer in search of new pastures at Bayern Munich, returned to Bambali last week to play in a muddy football match alongside former Premier League stars Papiss Cisse and El-Hadji Diouf.

In Senegal, the 30-year-old visited the £455,000 hospital he funded last year and which serves 34 villages in the area.

The good-hearted attacker, who has also built a £250,000 public secondary school in the village, is quickly turning Bambali into a town now with more than 2,000 inhabitants.

He was filmed opening a new gas station and has already pledged money to build a post office.

However, Mane’s generosity extended far beyond financing new buildings.

The winger has provided every family in the village with a monthly support package of €70 and offered €400 to the top performing students of Bambali High School.

Laptops have also been provided to the school, free sports clothing has been distributed to the children in the village and 4G internet has been installed.

Bayern have reportedly agreed personal terms with the Liverpool star, who will soon sign a three-year deal at the Allianz Arena after undergoing a medical on Tuesday.

The transfer fee is estimated at £35.1 million.
