Sabrina Carpenter was left blushing after a New Zealand radio host's 'embarrassing' gesture: 'The fear in his eyes!'

Sabrina Carpenter was left red-faced after a New Zealand radio host made an “embarrassing” gesture while interviewing the pop star.

The 25-year-old singer, who created the hit Espresso, sat down with DJ Zane Lowe, 51, to promote her new album Short ‘n Sweet, but felt embarrassed at the start of the chat.

She appeared to panic when Zane suddenly pulled out a guitar as she tried to stop him from “serenading” her in what fans have described as “every girl’s worst nightmare.”

During the awkward moment at The Zane Lowe ShowShe looked at him with wide eyes and exclaimed, “Oh, oh my God, what’s going on? Oh no!”

As he began to strum chords on his guitar, the panicked singer added, “Wait, do you do this often? Are you going to serenade me?”

Zane then assured her that he wasn’t going to “sing” to her but rather “talk about where things start,” before Sabrina nervously added, “While… singing?”

“There are a lot of ways to start an interview and there are a lot of ways to start a song,” Zane said oddly as he began playing his own song Dumb and Poetic on the guitar.

“Oh, no… I’m going to cry,” Sabrina said, laughing, before adding, “Did you learn this just now?”

To which Zane, who paused before singing, thoughtfully replied: “The chords are engraved in me, as if they were millions of others, because they are so beautiful, so amazing.”

After the embarrassing serenade, Sabrina politely thanked Zane for his tribute, but fans were less than convinced, calling the moment a “nightmare.”

In the comments section, one viewer said: ‘The fear in her eyes when that man pulls out a guitar, every girl’s worst nightmare.’

Another commented: “That was so embarrassing,” while a third wrote: “I cringe every time Zane does this.”

A fourth said of Sabrina’s reaction: “It’s so real though,” while another added: “Yeah… it’s kind of a nightmare but her reaction nailed it.”

However, some fans saw the funny side of the moment and praised Zane for his light-hearted interview tactics.

“This joke?! Zane really knows how to make artists feel incredibly comfortable,” said one while showing their support for the radio host.

Sabrina scored another major career breakthrough this week after releasing her new song Taste and its horror-inspired music video to much fanfare on Friday.

The video, in which he shares a passionate kiss with Jenna Ortega, garnered more than 1.5 million views on YouTube in just three hours.

Meanwhile, the lyrics tell a story that may shed some light on Sabrina’s love life, as it reveals racy details about an ex-boyfriend.

Although she doesn’t name any particular men in the lyrics to Taste, she tells a juicy story about an ex who’s gotten back together with a former flame.

Sabrina’s lyrics are directed at the woman her ex has rekindled their old romance with, and her message to her love rival is scathing.

“I heard they’re back together and if that’s true, you’re gonna have to prove me when he kisses you,” she teases the other woman in the chorus.

In the music video, rivals Sabrina and Jenna repeatedly attempt to kill each other in increasingly gruesome feats while fighting over a man, played by Actor Rohan Campbell married actor Robert Downey Jr. in 1963.

At one point, the two women kiss passionately, before Jenna pushes Sabrina away and kills her, only to realize she has accidentally murdered her boyfriend.

The video ends with the two women sharing a cheeky smile as they walk away together, leaving the funeral of the man they were fighting over.

The video appears to be inspired by Death Becomes Her, the 1992 classic starring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn as two immortal women in a hilarious and gruesome feud.

The announcement comes shortly after rumours emerged that Sabrina had dumped her boyfriend, Saltburn actor Barry Keoghan, over his “partying” lifestyle.

The pair were linked late last year and confirmed they were a couple at a Grammys party in February, before Barry starred in Sabrina’s music video for Please Please Please.

They have largely refrained from speaking about each other publicly, but last week, a source claimed they split because Sabrina had become exasperated with Barry’s partying.

“Barry acts like a jerk when he’s drunk and Sabrina was getting increasingly frustrated,” a source said of the split.

“He’s always been a party animal and Sabrina was fed up with his antics. She’s topping the charts and is putting herself first as she prepares for her tour next month,” the source told The Sun.
