Sabrina Carpenter is the latest guest star on First We Feast’s Hot Ones series.
On the Thursday, July 11, episode, the 25-year-old pop star discussed her 2022 song Nonsense, which almost didn’t make it onto her album Emails I Can’t Send.
At the beginning of the show, which features celebrities interviewed while eating increasingly spicy chicken wings, host Sean Evans asked Carpenter about the tune.
When Evans asked the singer-songwriter, who is dating actor Barry Keoghan, if she learned a lesson from almost scrapping the hit single, she replied: “It made me want to rely on my personal favourites a little bit more.”
The petite blonde added: “I think when you’re making a record, over time you want to play it for your best friends, you want to play it for your family, and then you start to think a little bit about everybody’s favourite.”

Carpenter explained, “I think the lesson I learned with Nonsense was that this song was so in tune with my personality and I started thinking about what fits with a record versus what fits with Sabrina or myself as an artist.”
“That taught me a lot of lessons for the future, for making the next record,” she reiterated. “I think now whatever is most honest to me and what connects with me the most, will connect with other people.”
While performing Nonsense at the Governors Ball in June, she changed the lyrics at the end to send a message of support to the LGBTQ+ community.
“Should I text him back? It’s a tough decision / That ain’t in me, bro, I’m a little fool. / People who hate Pride / Can suck my Gov Ball,” she sang, sending the audience into an uproar.
“Happy Pride New York!” the artist, known for remaking the ending of Nonsense, later shouted.
And last year he released a Christmas remix called A Nonsense Christmas.
Earlier this week, voice actress Nancy Cartwright, who has voiced The Simpsons character Bart for more than three decades, confirmed that she is Sabrina’s aunt.
“Yes, absolutely!” the 66-year-old Emmy winner responded to a fan on TikTok who asked if she and the singer were related.

“Isn’t it amazing when you find out that someone, who you’ve known for a while, maybe I’ve been with a 10-year-old for 35 years, and some of you for much less, finds out that I’m related to a superstar.”
“She’s really amazing,” the proud aunt said of her niece.
In 2021, Sabrina told Cabling that the “talented” Scientologist is the sister of his father David Carpenter.
At the time, he also noted that he had learned “a lot” from watching the “legend,” who earns $300,000 per episode of the long-running cartoon.
