Sabrina Carpenter released her long-awaited album Short n’ Sweet on Friday and seemingly hinted at a love triangle with her ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes and his ex Camila Cabello.
The 25-year-old Espresso singer, who kissed Jenna Ortega in the bloody music video for her song Taste, was briefly embroiled in romantic speculation with the 26-year-old Stitches singer early last year.
And on a variety of songs from her sixth studio album, the beauty appeared to sing lyrics possibly directed at Mendes and Cabello, though she did not use either name.
In the song Taste (which is the first tune on the LP), Carpenter seemingly mentions the Canadian artist, who is often seen shirtless on his outings.
“You wonder why half of her clothes disappeared/My body is where it’s at,” Sabrina could be heard singing.

Elsewhere in the song, the star also sings lyrics about being in the middle of an on-again, off-again romance with a lover.
Shawn and Camila began dating in 2019 until their split two years later in 2021, and appeared to reunite briefly in 2023.
“I heard they’re back together and if that’s true/You’ll have to prove me when he kisses you/If you want forever, I bet you do/Just know that you’ll prove me too.”
In February 2023, Carpenter and Mendes first sparked dating rumors when they were spotted strolling together in Los Angeles.
The following month, the couple was spotted together once again as they left Miley Cyrus’ album release party.
But in April 2023, the Mercy singer was spotted kissing Camila while attending the Coachella Music Festival in California.
In Sabrina’s song, “Coincidence,” she seemed to hint at Mendes and Cabello’s affectionate reunion at the festival.
“What a surprise, your phone just died/Your car drove itself from LA to her thighs/Palm Springs looks good, but who’s by your side?/Damn, she kinda looks like the girl you left behind,” he sang.

“Now her name appears once, then it appears twice/And without her even being here, she’s back in your life/Now she’s in the same damn city on the same damn night.”
In another song on the album called Dumb & Poetic, Sabrina sings about an ex who is brooding, but also manipulative.
“You pick out phrases like they’re words you made up/Gold star for intellectual manipulation/And ‘love everybody’ is your favorite quote,” the lyrics included.
The singer could also be heard singing: ‘Try to sound smooth and well-spoken/Masturbate to Leonard Cohen lyrics.’
Both Mendes and Cohen are from Canada, and Shawn has also sung Leonard’s song Hallelujah during some of his past shows.
Shawn has also been open about his journey with meditation and said: Fashion In 2021, “I definitely sat down a couple of times and did a meditation on YouTube…”

“But it wasn’t really until two and a half years ago, when I was going through a really tough time and had a lot of anxiety, that I started using it regularly.”
“It took me from a place of fear and anxiety to a place where I realized you can’t get anywhere if you don’t start with compassion for yourself.”
Also in the song, she later sings about an ex taking mushrooms: ‘Save all your breath for your shape meditation/You’re so empathetic, you’d make a great wife/And I promise you mushrooms aren’t changing your life.’
Mendes admitted that he experimented with consuming mushrooms during a recent concert in London, according to The sun.
“I really know who I am, but at the same time I don’t have the slightest idea,” he explained to the outlet.
“I’m just discovering it. I’ve been going through a lot of things and exploring things. I don’t know if anyone here has ever tried mushrooms, but it’s crazy.”
In the song Sharpest Tool (which is the fourth track on the album), Carpenter sings about an ex possibly getting back together with a past lover.
‘We never talked about how you found God at your ex’s house, you always made sure your phone was face down. Seems like it happened overnight, now I’m just the bitch you hate.’
While she could be targeting Mendes, Sabrina could also be hinting at another past romance with Disney Channel alum Joshua Bassett. The pair first sparked romance rumors in 2020, but seemingly split the following year.
