Brazilian authorities are investigating the mysterious death of an actress and heiress who fell from the fifth floor balcony of her apartment building.
Sabine Boghici, 49, was found in front of the Rio de Janeiro residence on September 14 and rushed to the Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Authorities investigated the death as a possible suicide after investigators searched her home and found a note she left for her wife, Rosa Stanesco, who is currently in jail.
Boghici is the daughter of one of Brazil’s greatest art collectors, Jean Boghici, who died in 2015. He was born in Romania in 1928 and moved to Brazil in 1948 with Jewish friends.
She and Stanesco were arrested in August 2022 for defrauding Sabine Boghici’s mother, Genevieve Boghici, of $148.8 million in artwork, jewelry and money.

Rio de Janeiro Civil Police investigators said Sabine plotted against her mother in 2020 and hired a woman who approached her mother and told her a relative was about to die.
The woman, who identified herself as a doctor, presented her to two other women, a fortune teller and the mother of a saint, who went along with the scam and convinced Genevieve Boghici to make payments for a “job” to save her daughter’s life to save.
The plan seemed to work immediately, leading Sabine Boghici to believe that she feared for her own well-being and had her mother pay $1 million for the spiritual work over fifteen days.

Sabine made her elderly mother stay at home and fired employees and caregivers.
But her mother sensed something was wrong in February 2022 due to her daughter’s strong ties to the fake psychics and suspended all payments.
Authorities discovered that Sabine and her accomplices had stolen 16 paintings by Tarsila do Amaral and Emiliano Di Calvacanti worth $145 million, $1 million in jewelry and $2.8 million in payments.
A court approved her parole from prison in March.
Under the terms of the release, she was not allowed to travel outside Rio de Janeiro for more than ten days and had to surrender her passport.
She was also not allowed to contact her mother or witnesses, and had to stay 500 meters away from her mother.
