Rylan Clark admitted to friend Rob Rinder that he “tried to end it all” amid the breakdown of his marriage as the couple opened up emotionally about their divorces.
The presenter and singer, 35, stars alongside Rob, 45, in their new travel show Rob and Rylan’s Grand Tour, which airs on BBC Two.
One scene shows them having a drink in the sun in Venice as they discuss the end of their relationships, with Rob breaking down over Rylan’s heartbreaking story.
It comes as it was revealed the pair are not actually dating, after sparking romance rumors last week by saying “their friendship is turning into love”.
At Sunday night’s TV Baftas, Rob, best known as the formidable judge Rinder on his ITV reality show, admitted he has developed a deep bond with Rylan, describing him as the “real deal” but insisted they are not in a romantic relationship.

‘We are not a couple. It’s what Rylan said, we’re like a very old married couple, we row, we laugh together and we don’t have sex,’ she stated.
But the couple, who forged their friendship after sharing a divorce lawyer, certainly bonded during some scenes on the travel show as they opened up to each other.
The duo’s show is a new three-part TV series, which they both say turned into a “heartbreaking vacation.”
Having endured painful divorces, they were ready to embrace the next chapter of their lives by launching into experiences outside their comfort zones.
Rylan, whose marriage to husband Dan Neal ended in 2021 after six years, was the first to speak out about his mental health struggles amid the split.
She told Rob: “I think it was the culmination of my marriage breaking down and me breaking up for the first time in 10 years.”
“Then all of a sudden I hit a pretty big obstacle instead of moving forward, I just sank.
‘It was the worst experience of my life. I just went into a downward spiral. I tried to end it, I tried to end myself.

Their joint appearance at the TV Baftas came after Rob hinted at a romance with Rylan just hours earlier on Sunday, while presenting the duo’s new BBC Two travel show.
‘I didn’t eat, I went down to ninth. I’m 6ft 4 Rob, and I look horrible.’
Rob then talked about his own divorce and started to get emotional too. He and her ex-husband, attorney Seth Cumming, divorced in 2018.
He said: ‘I was once very in love when I was in my early twenties, but it wasn’t reciprocated. And it never has been.
Rylan comforted his co-star as they sought solace in their shared life experiences.
He said, ‘You know what, Rob? We were here once and we’ve been through a lot.
‘What did he teach us? Nothing lasts forever unless it’s right,” as Rob wiped away tears.
Rylan later said that he is absolutely determined to move forward: ‘This journey for me is part of my restart in life.
“I’m 34 years old and I’m young enough to start over when it comes to my personal life.”
And he added: “Now I have no limits, nothing stops me.” I’m willing to try anything or anyone.’
