EXCLUSIVE
An aspiring model shot dead in a botched home invasion had been in contact with her imprisoned lover just days before the shocking attack.
Charlyze Hayter, 19, died when she and an unknown man armed with a rifle broke into the home of Tradie Jackson Gilmour, 29, in Rye, on Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, in the early hours of Monday.
Hayter is understood to have hit Gilmour with a baton and demanded he hand over his wallet and other personal belongings while he rummaged through his drawers.
But the tradie shot him before the second unknown intruder shot him, who then fled the scene.
In a video posted to Instagram just days before the deadly attack, Ms Hayter was seen gushing about a young man on a video call who was apparently being transported from prison.
The telltale sign of a ‘Corrections Victoria’ email address could be seen at the bottom left of the screen.
Labeled “Hello, I miss you” and adorned with love hearts, the man was seen covering his face before revealing a wide smile.
A smiling Mrs Hayter could be seen beaming with joy in the small video window at the top of her laptop screen.

On Wednesday, Ms Hayter’s accomplice remained at large as police continue to search for him.
Although Victoria Police declined to comment on their investigation into the fleeing killer, police sources have told Daily Mail Australia they would know his identity well.
It is unknown at this time if the inmate who appeared in Ms. Hayter’s latest Instagram video has been released from jail since it was posted five days ago.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that Hayter had taken a dark path in the final years of his life.
A lengthy Facebook post from her mother in 2021 celebrated her daughter’s 16th birthday, but she lamented not having the “right words to express how amazing I think you are to keep trying every day to overcome your personal challenges.”
“It breaks my heart to see you struggle with what’s going on in your head sometimes. I would do anything to make things easier for you,” her mother wrote.
“But from life’s difficulties we grow and learn and that shapes our outcome.”
The post added: ‘I wouldn’t change a bit about you.
‘I am immensely proud of you and the sensitive, caring and loving young adult you are becoming. You make my heart swell.’

On the road to ruin, Charlyze Hayter covered herself with tattoos and began hanging out with criminals
In recent months, he had painted his body with a series of large tattoos, including the face of the snake-haired Greek gorgon, Medusa, across his torso above the word “strength.”
She also had large text tattooed on her thigh, as well as tattoos on her face and neck, which were shown in increasingly revealing online photos.
Hayter’s grandfather, Bob, said his death had shaken his entire family, but had devastated his father.
“I loved her very much,” he told the Herald Sun. “This has upset the whole family.”
“Charlie was a lovely girl, she probably went down the wrong side of the road, but we hoped the best for her.
He is absolutely devastated. It’s very difficult to talk to him (Charlyze’s father) about it. She was a very bright girl at school. We had high hopes for her.”
Police have not yet revealed why Hayter and his accomplice attacked Gilmour’s home.
Friends of the beloved carpenter and plumber told Daily Mail Australia that Hayter had been friends with Mr Gilmour, who had shown signs of a troubled life in the months before his murder.
On Tuesday, police were seen towing a Ford Ranger and a Holden Clubsport – both expensive vehicles – from Gilmour’s rented three-bedroom home.
It is understood that Gilmour had isolated himself from his former colleagues in the months before his death for fear he had fallen in with a “bad crowd”.

A Holden Clubsport was also removed from the Rye estate.
“(His mother) doesn’t know,” his friend said. “She believes he simply defended himself in a domestic violence situation.”
The friend said it would be news to him if Gilmour had access to a firearm.
“I didn’t know he had a damn gun, that’s for sure,” he said.
His friend claimed Mr Gilmour looked “different” the last time he saw him alive.
I saw him a month or two ago. He was no longer the same,’ he said. “You don’t want to associate yourself with that stuff.”
The friend declined to speculate what he believed Mr Gilmour had been involved in in the final days of his life.
“I don’t want to get in trouble,” he said.
Neighbors said there were frequently cars “coming and going” from the property.
After breaking into the property, it is understood Ms Hayter hit Mr Gilmour with a baton and demanded he hand over his wallet and other personal belongings while she rummaged through his drawers.
Mr. Gilmour then reportedly shot him and the intruder shot himself.
Gilmour and Hayter were treated by paramedics, but both died at the scene.
The dead shopkeeper was known to police, and court records show he had appeared in court several times this year on two separate matters.
One of the matters came before Dromana Magistrates Court just two weeks ago.
