Ryde City Council boss David Robert Chariton is slapped with SIX AVOs and is ordered not to contact former staff members

A council boss has been ordered not to contact a group of his former workers after police issued arrest warrants against him.

David Robert Chariton, who was a team leader at Ryde City Council in Sydney’s north, appeared in Burwood Local Court on Wednesday to face the six AVO applications against him.

Chariton, who has now moved to Waverley Council in Sydney’s east, was ordered not to contact five of his former colleagues for six months.

He was also ordered not to assault, threaten, stalk, harass or destroy property belonging to the sixth employee for six months, as well as the other five.

The allegations, which were not aired in court, relate to Chariton’s alleged conduct while on Ryde City Council in 2022.

The allegations did not take place outside the workplace.

The six applicants, who remain employed by City of Ryde Council, appeared in court and told Daily Mail Australia outside they were “disappointed” at the length of the APVOs submitted.

Chariton’s lawyer Peter Katsoolis said his client had consented to the orders on a non-admissions basis, meaning “he does not agree with the truth of the allegations”.

Chariton was supported by his wife Suzie at court on Wednesday, with the pair seen leaving the courthouse hand in hand.

His LinkedIn says he is now manager of ranger services at Waverley Council, where he has worked since last September.

Chariton was employed by the City of Ryde Council from September 2019 to April 2023.

Both Waverley Council and City of Ryde Council have been contacted for comment.

Chariton faces a maximum sentence of two years in prison and a $5,500 fine if he breaches the terms of the AVOs.
