Ryan Seacrest Says He Still Loves Hosting American Idol Even Though He’s Been Doing It For 21 Years… After Leaving Live With Kelly And Ryan
Ryan Seacrest shared that after 21 years he is still happy with his hosting duties on American Idol.
The television host, 48, sat down with Idol judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan for an interview with Entertainment tonight.
The group shared their wildest audition stories after six years together on the hit TV show.
Seacrest also made a few comments about his hosting duties on the show after announcing his departure Live with Kelly and Ryan.
When asked if he is still happy as the host of the singing competition series, the producer said: ‘Yes. Yes that’s me. I really like the live shows.’

He also marveled at the fact that he and the celebrity judges have been working together for so long.
“We’re in our sixth season together,” Seacrest said. This is more of a statement. How crazy is it to think we’ve been doing this for six years and we can still put up with each other?’
He commented, “Everyone enjoys everyone else.”
While sharing their crazy audition memories, the group reminisced about meeting contestants with the same names as them.
“We’ve had contestants named Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan,” Perry said.
“I met a Ryan Seacrest,” Seacrest repeated. ‘I met them. Met her.’
A surprised Perry asked, “Her name is Ryan Seacrest?” to which Seacrest confirmed, “Her name is Ryan Seacrest.”
Perry added, “We met. It was wild.’

Seacrest has also worked on Live with Kelly and Ryan in recent years, along with co-host Kelly Ripa.
He worked with the actress on the morning show for six seasons before announcing his departure a few weeks ago.
The presenter of On the Air will be in the show until spring. He will be replaced by Ripa’s actor husband, Mark Consuelos.
“I’ve made the decision to make this my last season on Live with Kelly and Ryan. That’s bittersweet,” Seacrest said on the show.
A brooding Ripa — who has been the show’s mainstay since 2001 — grabbed his arm and said she “fully understood his decision-making.”

A source close to Ryan told DailyMail.com, “This decision was a hard one to make, but he never intended to do it for six seasons…he’s ready to explore other options.”
In an Instagram post shortly after the announcement, he said, “I’m going to miss my work wife and all the laughter we share.
“When I signed up to host Live in 2017 it was supposed to be for 3 years but I loved the job and working with Kelly so much I extended my time and last year I made the decision to to stay on for one last season. .
“I’m grateful to be able to share a cup of coffee with our viewers every day, one of the best parts of the performance.”
