The start date for the third season of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ has been confirmed by the club, marking the third anniversary of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney becoming co-owners.

In January, the hit docuseries won five Emmy Awards for its second season, and star Reynolds accepted one of the awards while playing Deadpool.

Previous seasons were released in the autumn, after the football season had ended, and Wrexham’s fate was confirmed.

But following news that the next series would be released in the spring, it has now been confirmed that it will be available to watch while the North Wales club are still fighting for promotion to League One.

The club shared a poster for the new season, along with the caption: ‘Welcome (back) to Wrexham! Season 3 begins April 18 on FX. Stream on @hulu.’

The announcement came on the third anniversary of Reynolds and McElhenney becoming co-owners of Wrexham AFC, marking the start of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, a documentary which showcased the team on and off the pitch.

The first season of the show, which covered the 2021–22 National League season, aired in late August 2022, while the second season episodes were released the following September, after gaining promotion to the National League. Football in spring 2023.

But when the third season launches later this year, Wrexham will still have two games left to play in the 2023-24 campaign, first at Crewe Alexandra on April 20 and then at home against Stockport County seven days later.

At last month’s Emmys, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’, shown on Disney+ in the UK, it was crowned the winner in the following categories: Cinematography for a Reality Programme, Unstructured Reality Programme, Directing for a Reality Programme, Picture Editing for an Unstructured Reality Programme, and Sound Mixing for a Programme. of reality.

The Wrexham co-chairmen shared a video on social media in which they accepted one of the awards, with Reynolds appearing as Deadpool and referring to himself as ‘Mr Lively’, his wife Blake’s surname.

‘Oh! Wow, umm… Mr. Lively couldn’t be here to accept this broken Emmy, so he sent me on his behalf,” Reynolds began.
