Ryan Reynolds has mocked Rob McElhenney’s “reckless spending” as Wrexham announced a new partner with a funny video on social media.
The Hollywood stars and co-owners of the League Two team posted a video on the club’s social media accounts to announce the arrival of US bank Ally as the club’s new partner.
However, as was usual in the case of the two actors, it was not just any announcement video.
Instead, the pair appeared at a mock press conference to announce the new deal, where Reynolds hilariously mocks McElhenney about the amount of money he’s spending at the club.
Reynolds mockingly accuses the Always Sunny in Philadelphia star of “reckless spending,” referring to him sending players to Las Vegas, building a temporary grandstand and even showing the TV show “Welcome to Wrexham.”
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took to social media to post a fun announcement video.
In the clip, Reynolds accuses his partner of reckless spending and lists a few examples.
The funny video was about announcing a new banking partner for the club.
The whole charade is to help announce not only Ally as the club’s new sponsorship, but also, as part of the partnership, to announce that the Wrexham women’s team will be traveling to the United States for a tour.
It is the latest bet for the club, which aspires to a second consecutive promotion after finally leaving the National League last season.
Phil Parkinson’s men are currently third in League Two, just three points behind leaders Mansfield in the race for division promotion.
Fans took to social media to react to the announcement video and comment on the couple.
The video also announced that the Wrexham women’s team would be going to the United States.
This latest announcement has fans taking to social media to react to the news and the way the Hollywood stars communicated it to fans.
With one post already suggesting the club is “Already lining up that League 1 money, huh?” as they hope to secure promotion this season.
Another praised the couple when the owners declared “If Carlsberg were president”, and a similar post agreed saying; ‘The boys just do it well. Amazing.’
Some even suggested that there is a different opinion on how fans view Reynolds and McElhenney by stating; ‘marmite but I love them’.
