It comes after Ryan weighed in once again about Barbie’s shocking Oscar snub in a wide-ranging interview with Variety where he talked about everything related to Ken.
The actor, who played Barbie’s plastic sidekick in the summer blockbuster, received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Ken; However, Margot Robbie, who played the eponymous Barbie, and director Greta failed to receive individual nominations.
Ryan later issued a statement expressing his disappointment at her snubs, writing: “There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this historic and world-famous film.” .’
Speaking to Variety, Ryan admitted that he “heavily” revised the statement.
“Look, I edited that statement a lot,” Ryan told the outlet. “I think if I say any more about this, I’ll basically put on a mink and start challenging people to a beach in Malibu Beach.”
Ryan said the film has continued to spark dialogue among audience members: “In terms of people’s reactions, the film continues to spark conversation in each incarnation,” he said. ‘Keep provoking this dialogue. It’s the power of this movie. It’s hard for me to compare it to anything.
“But it’s another reason why it’s more than just a summer blockbuster. It’s a great work of art. That’s what Greta and Margot created,” he added.

It comes after Ryan weighed in once again about Barbie’s shocking Oscar snub in a wide-ranging interview with Variety where he discussed all things Ken.
After the journalist pointed out that the Oscar snub could be a story straight out of the movie Barbies, Ryan “sighs and looks ahead.”
Barbie received eight Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera, and Best Original Song for Ken’s existential theme, I’m Just Ken.
Ryan first turned down the role, but both Gerwig and Robbie insisted: Gerwig wrote the role for him and even had ‘Ken Ryan Gosling’ written into the script.
‘There were real reasons why I couldn’t make the film. Schedule things. Life things. And months later I’d call my agents or something and say, “Hey, who did you get to play Ken?” And they said, “Greta says it’s you.” In the end I thought, “Who am I to argue with Greta Gerwig and Margot?” Gosling recalled.
‘They had a vision for it. They believed it. And they believed he should do it more than he believed he shouldn’t. At one point I thought: “They see something I don’t see.” I thought it was such a fantastic role that anyone could play it. I understand it now, but it took me a while.’
Ryan dedicated himself to the role, dieting, spending hours a day exercising and even bleaching his hair to properly transform into Ken.
‘He had this almost Redford wig, they called it. I looked at the screen test and thought it wasn’t Ken. He looked like he worked at Shutters or something. I thought, “Ken is a single white Barbie.” So he would try to dye his hair, even though he can’t dye his hair. I thought, “he should bleach my hair, but it should be a different version of his.” The strange thing was that I ended up looking like he did when he was 8 or 12, which was the time he was revisiting anyway.’
