Manchester United’s miserable start to the season was improved by a 1-1 draw against Enzo Maresca’s Champions League-chasing Blues, but the shared spoils leaves them 13th in the Premier League standings with just 12 points. .
Van Nistelrooy, who replaces the fired Erik ten Hag, is waiting to confirm his next steps, as Amorim will start for United on November 11 and the club legend still does not know if he will be part of the Portuguese’s coaching staff.
Amorim will bring his Sporting Lisbon squad to Manchester but could also look to mold Van Nistelrooy into his setup after the Dutchman only joined as Ten Hag’s assistant in the summer.
Revealing whether any conversations had been held with United’s new boss, Van Nistelrooy told Sky Sport after Sunday’s draw against Chelsea: “It’s special, I enjoyed every second of it and I will for the time being.” I am here to help and will support the new manager.

Van Nistelrooy is unlikely to be short of options, with the 48-year-old previously stepping away from his head coaching ambitions to take up an assistant role at the club he previously helped to serial success as a player.
The Dutchman is attempting to resurrect United’s dismal start to the English top flight and Europa League, with the club’s first-team stars already looking more organized and dangerous in front of goal than they did under Ten Hag.
United captain Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty in the dull 1-1 draw against Chelsea and regretted failing to get three points on his debut as a Premier League manager.

Van Nistelrooy continued: ‘I’m a bit disappointed that we didn’t get the win. We had the best of opportunities. Marcus hit the post, Bruno in the final minutes. Overall, the players’ performance was fantastic.
“It was a great moment, Bruno did very well and then the emotions come out.
‘Today (Sunday) what you saw we competed very well. We had the best opportunities. I’m a little disappointed not to have gotten the three points. Saw some great performances today. Lisandro (Martínez) and Matthijs (De Ligt) did a great job, (Noussair) Mazraoui played an excellent game. Bruno (Fernandes) took responsibility.
“It’s a good group of players, a good group of people. They left everything on the field. You saw the connection with the fans. That’s what we’re looking for.
