Mads Hermansen has seen a specialist as the Leicester goalkeeper battles to recover from the groin injury that has kept him out of the last three games.
The Dane was forced off at half-time of the 4-0 defeat at Newcastle and missed defeats to Wolves, Liverpool and Manchester City that saw Leicester drop into the bottom three.
Foxes boss Ruud van Nistelrooy was initially hopeful that Hermansen would recover quickly and even be available for the Wolves game, although the 24-year-old is taking longer than expected to return.
With Danny Ward already ruled out after a disastrous performance against Wolves and replacement Jakub Stolarczyk still inexperienced in the Premier League, Leicester are desperate for Hermansen’s return and will have their fingers crossed that a reunion with the specialist provides a breakthrough.
Leicester face Aston Villa on Saturday and Van Nistelrooy said: “Mads will not be available.” It has been evaluated over the past week. He’s been in his rehab program. “There is no clear picture, but he will be out for at least a couple of weeks.”
