Ruth Langsford has debuted a new hairstyle on Instagram amid claims she will break her silence over her split from Eamonn Holmes when she returns to Loose Women in July.

The 64-year-old presenter, who has been a panellist on the show since 1999, filmed herself getting perfectly matched extensions.

He played with his new locks, playfully pulling them over his upper lip to give the appearance of a very long mustache.

Her hairstylist Lauren Houghton documented her on Instagram, and Ruth revealed the perfectly blended extensions at the roots.

But she soon admitted that long hair was just one step in the process after Lauren cut it into Ruth’s signature bob style.

She wrote in the caption of the post: ‘I got my extensions renewed at the salon @leobancroft… I don’t have them for length, just for extra volume after my hair got thinner with the menopause.

‘They’re so small I barely feel like I have them on… but I can really tell the difference when they’re not on! Thanks as always @laurenhoughtonhair for your expertise and the laughs!’

This comes after it was revealed Ruth will break her silence on her split from husband Eamonn, also 64, when she returns to Loose Women in a matter of days.

Ruth has taken an extended break from the ITV show following the end of her marriage to Eamonn, but feels she “owes” viewers an explanation as she rejoins the panel.

The couple were announced to be parting ways in May after a 27-year relationship and 14-year marriage, and so far, Ruth has refrained from speaking about their split.

But she plans to address the news personally on air, surrounded by her close friends and co-stars, and then hopes to move on, with no further plans to do an in-depth interview.

A source has revealed that while it will be incredibly emotional for Ruth, she is a professional and knows she cannot return to television without addressing why she has been absent since April.

A TV source told MailOnline: ‘The Loose Women presenters have a history of speaking openly about their marriage break-ups on air and it’s a very supportive environment.

This comes after Eamonn shared a post on Instagram on Monday night saying it’s “hard to stand up but my next goal is to walk” amid his ongoing health issues.

‘Ruth knows viewers are very interested in her break-up, so she will address her and Eamonn for the first time on the show.

‘The public has been there through the ups and downs of their relationship, she has always been very open and honest and later this month will be no different… she owes it to the viewers to say something.

‘She will be surrounded by the people closest to her on the show and then she will call it a day… she has no plans to do a big interview, this will be the only time she speaks.’
