Ruth, who dropped to a size 12, was inspired to lose weight after overindulging on holiday in January 2010.
After returning home with a new outlook on her lifestyle, Ruth openly admitted: ‘I came back from holiday a couple of years ago, in January 2010, and we all over-holiday, don’t we?’
“Something just clicked, I felt like this was now or never, I wanted to make a positive change for myself and I haven’t looked back.”

Instead of going down the path of fad diets and strict eating, Ruth said she simply controlled her portion sizes and calorie intake.
she said the express in 2019: ‘It took me 22 months to lose four and a half kilos. Although I have been on many diets in my life, I have never done them the old-fashioned way: eating fewer calories than I was consuming.’
Ruth had a daily intake of 1,250 to 1,500 calories when she was trying to lose weight.
The NHS recommends that the average woman consume 2,000 calories a day to maintain a healthy weight.
