Meanwhile, investigators say Oeaop rented the room, as Daria came to live with him about a week ago.
They said the deceased had filed a report with Pattaya police and consulted with immigration officials in Chonburi on August 11 as she had lost her passport and was trying to return home.
His body was taken to hospital for an autopsy.
Jomthien District Police arrested the Russian man on suspicion of drunken and disorderly conduct and manslaughter.
The Russian tourist, upon initial questioning by Pattaya tourist police and Chonburi immigration officials, reportedly denied attacking his girlfriend.
He underwent a drug test, but no narcotic substances were found in his blood.

Police Lt. Col. Kanisorn Apisop, superintendent of the city’s Jomtien district, said forensic officers were taking fingerprints in the room.

Thailand’s current military government has made efforts to clean up Pattaya after it was dubbed the “sex capital” of the world and modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah.
However, the city’s lucrative underground economy based on sex, crime, drink and drugs proved difficult to tame in the once sleepy coastal town and continued to attract unwanted visitors from around the world.
A large number of British expats have also set up bars in the sunny resort town, which has become an attractive retreat for retirees.
