“Sergei Shoigu inspected the forward command post of one of the formations of the Vostok Group of Forces in the Zaporizhia region,” according to the Russian Defense Ministry, without specifying the date of the visit.
The Russian Defense Ministry did not say when Shoigu visited one of the formations of the Vostok Group of Russian forces in the Zaporizhia region, but a statement from the ministry was issued as Ukrainian forces prepared to attack and escalate their activity along the front line.
“Sergei Shoigu inspected the forward command center of one of the formations of the Vostok Group of Forces in the Zaporizhia region,” the ministry said in a statement.
Shoigu, who was in military uniform, appeared in a video released by the ministry surrounded by senior commanders at a command post, praising the high efficiency in identifying and destroying enemy equipment and personnel on the main axes of the Vostok grouping.
The statement said that the commanders were tasked with continuing to “conduct active reconnaissance” to detect enemy plans in advance and prevent their implementation, “and that Shoigu gave soldiers official awards as well. Zaporizhia is one of four Ukrainian regions that Russian President Vladimir Putin announced last year.
