Russell Crowe has revealed the contract he had to sign to appear on Joe Rogan’s top-rated podcast.

The Australian actor was invited to The Joe Rogan Experience earlier this year and was informed beforehand that he would have to commit to being on air for three hours.

Talking to Nova 96.9 Fitzy & Wippa With Kate Ritchie on Monday, the 60-year-old actor said he initially wasn’t too interested in the terms.

“He says, ‘We’ll chat for about three hours.’ And I’m like three hours? No, you’re not. That’s a little ridiculous,” Crowe said.

‘And then you go in there, and that’s what he intends. But once you’re there, you have to sign something that you won’t abandon until the conversation is over.’

Crowe said that Rogan has the final say when the episode ends and that he was at his mercy.

“(The episode) is basically the length of a cigar,” the actor explained.

While on the episode, Crowe got down to business and had a lively chat with the controversial podcaster about politics.

He argued that the rise of independent politicians better represents the views of ordinary Australians, unlike the two-party dominated system in the United States.

The Oscar-winning actor made this statement in response to host Rogan complaining that Americans were “completely trapped in the two-party system.”

“We have the same kind of situation, but we have something very interesting happening in Australia right now, which is the rise of the independents,” Crowe responded.

‘The main parties have to deal with the fact that those independents have to bring a number of non-partisan points to the argument.

And it’s working well. It’s working for us. “In that it is forcing the two main parties to reexamine who they are and what they represent.”

Rogan mused, “We could use that here, for sure,” highlighting how American politics is completely dominated by the Democratic and Republican parties.

There are other parties, including the Greens, Libertarians and Reformists, but these receive very few votes in comparison.

Independent candidates can also run and have been known to do well at times.

Crowe’s three-hour conversation with Rogan, which first aired in August, has recently resurfaced in teal ads on social media.

It comes after news that almost 25 years after starring in the original hit film Gladiator (2000), Russell is ready to fight the Roman Empire once again.

Deadline reports that the New Zealand-born actor and director has signed on to star in The Last Druid.

William Eubank will direct, working from a script he wrote with Phil Gawthorne and Carlyle Eubank.

The film “will tell the story of a Roman emperor who discovers an isolated Druid fortress in the Caledonian mountains,” according to the publication.

“A peaceful Celtic elder (Crowe) must take up arms to protect his family and people from annihilation,” the synopsis read.

The casting process is still ongoing, so more actors will be added ahead of filming in the coming weeks.

Ben Pugh produces alongside Range Media Partners’ Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger, along with Adrián Guerra, who also produces for Nostromo.

Felix Farmer’s Brandon Millan and Sam Wasson will executive produce alongside George Hsieh.

Crowe did not appear in the sequel, Gladiator II, starring Paul Mescal as Lucius Verus, the former heir to the Roman Empire and son of Maximus, who was played by Crowe in the original.
