Steve Barclay calls for transparency at the BBC
Health Secretary Steve Barclay has said employers like the BBC should be “transparent” about their complaints history.
“In terms of the BBC, it is important that all employers show transparency, share the information they have to ensure that where there are lessons to be learned, those lessons are learned as quickly as possible.”
YouTube spokesperson explains the decision
YouTube has blocked Russell Brand’s account from making money from advertising and merchandise, suspending one of the comedian’s key sources of income following sexual assault allegations.
A spokesperson for the Google-owned video site said it was “demonetizing” any channels related to Brand and that its rules cover behavior outside the site itself.
“We have suspended monetization on the Russell Brand channel for violating our Creator Responsibility policy,” a spokesperson said. “If a creator’s off-platform behavior harms our users, employees or ecosystem, we take action to protect the community.”
Mr Brand has 6.6 million subscribers on YouTube. Ads were running on Monday for companies such as Currys and Masterclass. Taxi app FreeNow said it had requested that its ads no longer appear on Brand’s channel.
Brand had used YouTube to respond to the allegations over the weekend.
