Commuters in Sydney's CBD were left shocked when a black SUV drove through an intersection and smashed through the window of a gym on Tuesday.

Office workers in Sydney’s CBD heading to their evening workout at a popular gym were met with chaotic scenes after a 4×4 vehicle crashed into the front glass wall.

Emergency crews were called to Snap Fitness on Clarence St around 5.30pm after the black SUV drove through an intersection and crashed into the packed gym on Friday.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics treated a man in his 70s and a man in his 60s with minor injuries at the scene.

Both men were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for further treatment.

Images from the scene show the gym’s front glass wall completely shattered, with the bonnet of the van wedged against the gym’s front service counter and shards of glass littering the pavement.

“It looks like a war zone,” one office worker heading to nearby Wynyard station told Daily Mail Australia.

It is not known at this time what caused the accident.
