Run for the sunbeds! British holidaymakers fight over the best poolside loungers as others watch in dismay at the latest example of Brits’ bad behaviour abroad

The video begins by showing a group of tourists waiting to rush to the pool early in the morning.

The sunbed wars continue to heat up this summer as new footage shows misbehaving Brits racing to get the best poolside loungers.

Armed with towels in hand, these UK tourists can be seen queuing at the pool entrance, ready to rush out as soon as staff open the gates first thing in the morning.

The video, taken in The four-star Villa Romana hotel in Salou, Spain, shows tourists pushing each other while one person laughs and says: “Oh my God.”

But it seems that wasn’t enough to deter the tourists, who did their best imitation of a 100-meter sprint to reach the pool.

This comes after a five-star hotel declared war earlier this week on holidaymakers who hog sun loungers and reserve them by the pool and then disappear.

The Laur hotel on Turkey’s Aegean coast has ordered its staff to remove tourists’ belongings if they try to steal sun loungers early in the morning or even the night before.

Two videos on social media show a stern-faced hotel manager collecting towels on two separate occasions.

The first video, posted by a British tourist, is accompanied by the music of Madonna’s Holiday, and the second clip features the line “Guess who’s back, again” from Eminem’s Without Me.

In both videos, the hotel employee grabs at least half a dozen towels as he patrols the resort’s pool area to clear space for sun worshippers arriving to enjoy the weather.

As sunbed wars continue across Europe, it seems holidaymakers are swapping their stressful morning commute for a dawn assault on the best sunbeds.

While some sun worshippers are out to secure a row of beds for their families, others are equally happy to film the early morning invasions and share the footage on social media.

A video posted last week from the Village Hotel in Benalmadena, Spain, with the caption “Ready, set, go!” shows the moment guests rush to bed.

TikTok user The Railway Queen shared a video showing a manager at her hotel in Turkey stacking towels over his shoulder in an attempt to clear space by the pool.

A second TikTok video shows similar scenes at a hotel in Tenerife. Once the pool door is opened, guests flock to the water’s edge and fill all available beds within seconds.

The footage is accompanied by a soundtrack of Survivor’s Eye of the Tiger, the theme song to the Rocky boxing films.
