Richard Wilkins has denied reports that he has taken a massive pay cut.

Rumors were rife that the Nine Entertainment editor’s salary had been cut in half to around $200,000, according to news.com.au.

Although Richard’s exact salary is not currently known, he was last reported to be earning $400,000 from his job at Nine in 2019.

Richard’s representatives denied the report of the pay cut amid a cost-cutting drive at the chain.

The veteran TV star has no plans to retire any time soon, but some insiders have claimed Nine has been trying to “push” him out the exit door.

The Today star is also said to bolster his already lucrative salary by participating in public speaking opportunities and other gigs that support his “rock star lifestyle.”

Richard has been a regular face on Nine for almost four decades, first joining the network in 1987 as the original presenter of the Australian version of MTV.

He currently serves as Nine’s entertainment editor and occasionally makes appearances as co-host of Weekend Today.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

Richard recently went public with his new girlfriend Mia Hawkswell and the pair have been seen making some loved-up outings together.

Daily Mail Australia broke the news of his romance after he was spotted with Mia, 47, at her friend Annika Martyn’s birthday party.

Appearing at Channel Nine’s Upfronts event in October, Richard gave rare insight into his budding romance with Mia.

“Mia is beautiful, she’s doing great, she’s very busy and has lots of things to do,” Richard told Daily Mail Australia.

Mia is the go-to makeup artist for some of Sydney’s best-known stars, including Sonia Kruger, who reportedly introduced her to Richard.

Mia also works closely with the likes of fitness influencer Rachael Finch, Jessica Rowe and Kate Waterhouse.

Richard has five children from four different mothers.

He was 18, working in a slaughterhouse in New Zealand and studying to be a teacher when his girlfriend, then 16, gave birth to their eldest son, Adam, 51, who has Down syndrome.

She then had daughter Rebecca, 41, and son Nick, 39, from previous relationships.

Richard shares another son, Christian, 29, with ex-wife Michelle Burke, while he also welcomed Estella, 20, with fashion designer Collette Dinnigan, who reportedly lives in Rome.

After his split from Michelle, Richard dated Nicola Dale, but news of their split emerged in January and he has since gone public with his relationship with Mia.
