Rudy Giuliani has claimed he has been “ persecuted ” by the media since discovering a hard drive that allegedly belonged to President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter.

The former New York City mayor and Trump attorney told me Fox newsHannity program on Monday that the media has been trying to “ destroy his credibility ” since he allegedly released material from the laptop to a pro-Republican newspaper ahead of the 2020 presidential election.

Giuliani is under investigation for alleged violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). He denies this.

Last week, his Manhattan home and office were raided and his electronics seized, as part of the investigation into whether the 76-year-old was acting as an unregistered federal agent and lobbying the Trump administration on behalf of Ukrainian officials and oligarchs .

The investigation was prompted by a case against two Soviet-born men who assisted Giuliani in attempts to obtain incriminating information in Ukraine against Hunter Biden, who was on the board of an energy company there.

During the late stages of the 2020 election campaign, photos that appeared to show Hunter Biden with drug paraphernalia, along with documents and emails, were released by Giuliani to The New York Post.

The authenticity of the information and how Giuliani got it were immediately called into question, and he claimed that the media has been targeting him ever since.

“This is all done because they want to destroy my credibility because I have that whole hard drive,” he said.

“I sent it to the New York Post and they’ve been prosecuting me ever since. They threatened me, they did everything they could to destroy every business relationship I have. They spread all kinds of false stories, ”he told Hannity.

“If they lie about that, isn’t it obvious they’re lying about everything else?”

One of these ‘lies’, according to Giuliani, is what he described as years of media attempts to falsely link him to Russia.

This week, The Washington Post and New York Times corrected a major allegation in their coverage of Giuliani, claiming that the FBI had received a briefing warning him that he was the target of a Russian disinformation campaign.

During the interview, Giuliani also claimed that the FBI had targeted Trump, saying the body had received a secret warrant to search his iCloud from May 1, 2018 to November 4, 2019.

Both papers had claimed that the former New York City mayor had been informed by FBI agents that he was being used by Russia to dig up dirt on Joe Biden in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election.

“I’m probably the greatest anti-communist you’ve ever met,” he told Fox. “There is no way I am a Russian agent or someone else’s agent.

‘I was a lawyer representing a client who was innocent. The biggest burden a lawyer can have is representing an innocent man and I did a damn good job, ” said Giuliani, referring to his role as the lawyer of former President Donald Trump.

May 1 was the date Giuliani began representing Trump in an investigation into possible collusion with Russia.

“You can’t say their main interest wasn’t Donald Trump,” Giuliani told Fox.

The Giuliani investigation stemmed from a federal investigation of his associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, who worked to gather information about the Bidens during the election and were charged with violating the ban on political donations by foreign nationals in October 2019.

The day I start representing him is the day they invade my iCloud. So try to tell someone it wasn’t to get the material on Donald Trump. ‘

The two Soviet-born men were charged with federal campaign funding violations.

The two, who pleaded not guilty, were arrested at an airport outside Washington with single tickets to Europe. That investigation is underway and was delayed due to the COVID pandemic.

Trump has said he does not know the two men or the work they did.

Investigators are also investigating Giuliani’s role in the ousting of the US ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, who was a prominent witness in Trump’s first impeachment trial. Current and former US officials testified to that investigation that Giuliani pursued a foreign shadow policy in Ukraine.

While Giuliani pushed Ukrainian officials to announce an investigation into the Bidens, he pushed for Yovanovitch to be removed, seeing her as an obstacle to his efforts to conduct an investigation that would benefit Trump politically.

At Giuliani’s insistence, Trump had her recalled.

Prosecutors are investigating whether Giuliani worked not only for Trump, but also for Ukrainian officials or companies who wanted Yovanovitch to be fired for their own reasons, The New York Times reported.

Giuliani later bragged about her being removed, saying he had ‘forced’ her out while pressing the Ukrainians to ‘hard’ investigate the Bidens.

Trump was charged on two counts in his first trial following reports of a July 25, 2019 phone call in which Trump pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate Joe and Hunter Biden, as well as a discredited conspiracy theory that Ukraine was interfering with the 2016 US elections.

Trump was acquitted by the Senate.
