Ruby Wax has recalled the moment OJ Simpson “sort of” confessed to killing his ex-wife in what he claimed was an April Fools’ Day prank.
The television personality had met with Simpson after he was acquitted in 1994 of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.
Wax, now 70, alleged in an interview with Good Morning Britain on Friday that after the couple finished filming a documentary in 1998, Simpson called her on April 1 and told her: “It’s OJ, I did it.” . Day of the Innocents!’
She claims he hung up immediately after the statement, adding that the former NFL star was “pretty much telling me what he had done.”
Wax’s appearance on the talk show came after the former football star died of prostate cancer last week.
A lurid video of Simpson pretending to stab Wax during the 1998 BBC interview also resurfaced after his death.

In a recently resurfaced video clip, Simpson pretended to stab Wax with a banana while making a strange, violent noise while smiling at the camera.
Wax has previously called the former NFL star, who was found liable in civil court for stabbing his ex-wife Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman to death, “the most complicated character in the world.”

Wax described her 1998 interview, more than 20 years later, as a “psychological midfield” and revealed that she thought she could get Simpson to admit to the fatal stabbings, and even suggested that he might want her to arrest him for the crime.
“I think he wanted me to arrest him, he said out of the blue, “I want to know what my favorite poem is,” and continued, “Lizzie Borden took an ax and gave her mother forty blows; When she saw what she had made, she gave her father forty-one.”
“I thought I could arrest him,” Ruby said. ‘[I thought] He would say on air, “Yes, he did,” and put him in jail. So I was being a public defender.’
Wax, 70, is a British-American actress, comedian and television personality who interviewed Simpson, whom she called “the most complicated character in the world,” 25 years ago.

‘Later, I did a piece to the camera that said: “I’ve been fixed up and I don’t know who my date is going to be” and I opened the door and it was him.
“But when he was there, all the trays were there and he was looking for a knife, to trick me when the door was open but there was no knife, so he grabbed a banana.”
The notorious double murder suspect died surrounded by his family at his Las Vegas home Wednesday night.
Simpson became one of America’s most notorious figures after being charged with the 1994 murders.
A post by X shared on his official account by his family read: “On April 10, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.
“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you respect his wishes for privacy and grace. – The Simpson family.’

Simpson had awkwardly joked about “coming clean” just weeks before his death in one of his final podcast appearances.
The football legend and acquitted murderer made the comment on an episode of the ‘It Is What It Is’ podcast, after he was asked about Shaquelle O’Neal stating that ‘men shouldn’t open up to women (because) they’ll use it’ . Against them.’
“When you say ‘open up to women,’ I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Simpson said with a smile. ‘Is she talking about confessing? So no, man, don’t confess.
The joke sparked raucous laughter among the podcast’s hosts, however, many saw it from a different perspective and felt he was “mocking” the murders for which he was found civilly responsible.
The podcast clip also resurfaced following Simpson’s death.
