Ruby Rose has revealed how she publicly lashed out at her ex-girlfriend Jessica Origliasso earlier this month when she saw a confrontational photo of herself when she was “broken” physically and mentally.
Ruby was pictured looking worryingly thin as she attended the Sydney premiere of Pitch Perfect 3 with her then-partner Jess in November 2017.
As she sat down to write her memoir a few weeks ago, she stumbled across the photo and was reminded of how toxic the couple’s relationship was at the time.
She took to Instagram to launch a scathing attack on Jessica and her sister Lisa, who are members of pop band The Veronicas, calling them out for “how horrifying” they were reportedly to her.
Ruby addressed her outburst on Nova FM’s Fitzy & Wippa on Tuesday, saying she shared the posts because she was writing about her trauma from previous relationships.

She explained to co-hosts Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Michael “Wippa” Wipfli that the photo from the premiere of Pitch Perfect 3 brought back painful memories.
At the time, fans expressed concern for the actress amid unconfirmed reports that her weight had dropped to an alarming 44kg.
“Honestly, I came across a picture of Pitch Perfect 3, the premiere. And I forgot… no matter what I look like, I’m emaciated,” she said.
“I’m just dissociated, I look so broken and I was filled with anger thinking, ‘How could I have let it get this bad?'” she added.
And that’s why I wrote what I wrote. But what the book really is, and what’s important for me to change the story of it a little bit,[is]it’s not kind of tell it all, like Prince Harry… it’s kind of like, “Here are some things that are happened, it’s pretty hard.”
Ruby responded to her Instagram outburst weeks earlier announcing she was writing a memoir that would “scare a lot of people.”
‘Write books. The truth. It will piss a lot of people off… but maybe you should have been better?’ she wrote.

“Honestly, I came across a picture of Pitch Perfect 3, the premiere. And I forgot… no matter what I look like, I’m emaciated,” she said. “I’m just dissociated, I look so broken and I was filled with anger because I thought, ‘How could I let it get this bad?'”
Ruby clarified to Fitzy & Wippa on Tuesday that it won’t be a “revenge book,” but instead hopes to inspire others.
“I want it to be more of an inspirational book, rather than, you know, it’s not a revenge book and it’s not a gossip book,” she said.
“It’s certainly not a book I should be writing without my therapist.
“But the other parts are more about other things that were said about, you know, when I broke my neck and almost got paraplegic, and got into controversy about things that didn’t happen, because that’s how Hollywood can be.
“There’s a lot I’ve been silent about because I was already in a place where I didn’t want to throw fire on fire. I think everyone would keep doubling down on these things because I kept silent.
“You know, it’s like ignoring the bullies… I was exploited because people knew my hands were kind of tied that I don’t want to make any more fuss.”
The feud between Ruby and The Veronicas came to light after Jessica broke off their on-again, off-again relationship in 2018.
The two women dated briefly in 2008 before rekindling their romance in 2016, only to break up again two years later.

Not only did the relationship not end amicably, but while Jess was dating Ruby for nearly two years, she had a falling out with her twin sister and bandmate Lisa.
Lisa explained that the siblings’ relationship became extremely strained during Jessica’s time with Ruby, and they didn’t talk or perform with each other for a year.
She said the period when they weren’t talking was “heartbreaking,” and Jessica added, “When you have twins, you’re backed up for everything.
“But sometimes, in order to evolve as an individual and to find the love for myself that I needed, I just had to go through (that) experience for myself.”
The sisters admitted that the band almost fell apart from 2016 to 2018 due to their family breakup, but a love of music eventually brought them back together.
