Australian actress Ruby Rose has landed a major role in a spooky new Hollywood murder mystery film called The Drowning Pool.
No details have been released about which character the 38-year-old actor will play in the thriller, which will be directed by David Hackl.
Set in the Canary Islands, the plot is about a woman who investigates the disappearance of her sister after her sister was reported to have drowned.
The woman, named Katherine, discovers a series of “mysterious” disappearances involving other women in the waters surrounding the islands.
The official synopsis explains that Katherine eventually uncovers a gruesome tale of “ritualistic evil.”
Preparations for the filming of the chiller on location in the Canary Islands are already underway, according to reports Deadline On Wednesday.
The director is Canadian filmmaker David, who made Saw V (2018), which is part of the infamous bloodthirsty horror franchise.
This comes after Ruby recently returned to the spotlight following her controversial exit from the Batwoman series in 2020.

The Melbourne native, whose real name is Ruby Rose Langenheim, began her career in show business as a model, DJ and television presenter for MTV Australia.
As her popularity grew, she found herself starring in major modeling campaigns for big names like Maybelline, and co-hosting popular shows like Channel 10’s The Project and Australia’s Next Top Model.
She moved to Hollywood in 2013 to pursue acting and then rose to fame in 2015 with her breakout role in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black.
The genderfluid star’s acting career skyrocketed when she was cast in blockbuster films such as Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016) and Pitch Perfect 3 (2017).

She starred alongside Hollywood fan favorite Vin Diesel in xXx: Return of Xander Cage (2017) and alongside Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017).
In 2018, Ruby also co-starred alongside Jason Statham in the sci-fi thriller The Meg.
However, her career took a turn for the worse in 2020 when she controversially left the CW superhero series Batwoman after just one season.
The star claimed she was subjected to poor working conditions on the set of the superhero series.
“To my dear, dear fans who still ask me if I will return to that horrible show, I would not go back for any amount of money or if you had a gun to my head… I AM NOT QUITTING EITHER,” she wrote in a scathing online post.

Since then, she has appeared in the films Stowaway, Vanquish, 1UP and Taurus throughout 2021 and 2022.
He also appeared in the 2023 American action film The Collective and the Middle East-set war film Dirty Angels.

Ruby is also writing a tell-all memoir that will include details of her feud with The Veronicas’ Lisa and Jessica Origliasso.

Ruby announced on Instagram last year that she had started writing her book and vowed to expose the pop twins (whom she did not name but called “the sisters”) for “how horrible” they allegedly were to her.
This comes after Ruby recently returned to the spotlight following her controversial exit from the CW series Batwoman in 2020.
He also claimed that the “truth” he was writing would “upset a lot of people.”
Speaking on The Kyle and Jackie O Show a few months after the split, Jessica said she was in “a very complex relationship”.
She added: “I’m still trying to come to terms with the reality of this every day, so it’s really hard to explain it to anyone.
“So many things happened, so many that I can’t even count them.”
