Have you ever wanted a phone that you could wrap around your wrist or fit into your clothes? At IFA 2018, the Chinese company Royole has shown its range of fully flexible displays, including panels built into a ski jacket – and a top hat.

A curved screen is just one of the components needed to make a foldable phone or smart jacket, and Royole also makes a series of flexible sensors, circuits and other electronic systems to make these products possible.

Form of the future

"While curved screens were the talk of the technical world this summer, Royole developed and produced the next generation of fully flexible displays in bulk," said Dr. Bill Liu, founder and CEO of Royole.

"Our engineers are currently working with over 220 partners around the world to change the way people interact with technology in their personal environment."

Royole may not be a concept outside of China, but with flexible devices such as the long-awaited Samsung foldable phone on the horizon, technology could soon be in demand.
