Experts are shedding light on why King Charles decided to keep his distance from Prince Harry, even as questions continue to arise about their strained relationship. Royal biographer Robert Hardman recently shared ideas during an interview, explaining the reasoning behind the King’s current approach towards his youngest son.
In an interview reported by fox newsHardman spoke about the pressures surrounding the King and highlighted the delicate balancing act of his new role. “I know people keep saying, ‘Why don’t you see Harry when you’re in town?’ Why can’t they fix things? But right now, there’s a feeling that we need to keep the King’s stress levels down. “We don’t want him to have extra things to worry about,” Hardman said.
He continued: “There is a feeling that now is probably not the time,” suggesting that the King’s advisers and family feel it is best to handle current affairs without adding the complexities of reconciling with Harry. Since Prince Harry stepped down from royal duties, he has shared numerous critical perspectives on the Royal Family in his television series, memoirs, and various interviews. Hardman emphasized that “there is a lot to unpack,” noting that the number of unresolved issues between Harry and the monarchy makes reconciliation difficult at present.
Hardman also believes that despite the current distance, the King would welcome a future opportunity to reconnect with Harry. “I’m sure the king would like to normalize things with his ‘dear boy,'” he said, hinting at King Charles’ affection for his son even amid the ongoing rift.
The King’s affection also extends to his grandchildren. Hardman noted that Charles is happy to spend time with the younger members of his family, particularly the children of Prince William and Princess Catherine, who live near Windsor Castle. “People thought that when he became king, he would have so many things to do and see less of them. But interestingly, since he became King… there are still opportunities to see young families,” Hardman shared.
King Charles divides his time between official residences and personal retreats, including London, Highgrove and Scotland. He reportedly He tries to spend at least a couple of nights a week at Windsor Castle, where he is just a short walk from William, Catherine and their children. Ironically, his new role has given him more opportunities to connect with his family, despite the increased responsibilities.
For now, Charles’ focus remains on managing his duties and keeping his schedule balanced, with the hope that the timing of his reconciliation with Harry will improve in the future.
