Roy Keane was responsible for Sky Sports for the two live matches on the channel on Thursday evening, and he only bolstered his reputation as an outright assessor of on-field action.
The former Manchester United midfielder saw his old team Aston Villa beat 3-0, and while praising goalscorer Mason Greenwood, he criticized Greenwood’s co-goalscorer Paul Pogba for only wanting to be a leader off the field.
Keane also ripped Tottenham in after their disappointing 0-0 draw at Bournemouth, and believes a lot needs to change at the club if they want to compete for European places.

Roy Keane delivered another Sky Sports punditry master class for the channel’s two live games
“I think he lost the tiger’s eye”
Keane’s first victim of the evening was Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, who has battled for consistency this season, scoring just eight times in 28 league appearances as the Cherries slipped into the drop zone.
The 28-year-old – who received an overhead kick against Tottenham in their 0-0 draw against VAR – was linked with moves to Manchester United and Chelsea after being called up by Gareth Southgate and scoring 14 goals in the Premier League.
But Keane believes that Wilson’s shape decline has since resulted from the attacker’s losing his hunger, and warned again to discover that this is the only way he will once again spark the interest of top clubs.
The former Manchester United midfielder ripped clubs and individuals everywhere
“The number of goals, do you think Bournemouth attacks, I remember looking at Wilson thinking he was the real deal, called up to England.
“I think this boy has lost his hunger. He was rewarded in Bournemouth with a high wage, I think he lost the eye of the tiger. They have to stay in the race, create some kind of achievement.
“Get something, stay in the race, the last few games have been defeated after 10-15 minutes. A little more hungry, a little more desire, but there is quality in that team. ‘
Roy Keane claimed that Callnem Wilson, the Bournemouth striker, has lost his appetite to continue
“His team is shocking”
At half-time from Tottenham’s dull 0-0 draw against relegation-threatened Bournemouth, the former Manchester United midfielder aimed for Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese was furious that his side had not received an early penalty for a push over Harry Kane.
Despite agreeing that Spurs should have gotten a spot kick, Keane claimed that Mourinho’s problems went much deeper after his team failed to shoot a shot in the first half and moved on to the second.
Jose Mourinho was furious Tottenham had not been punished for a push on Harry Kane
“I am amazed at that decision. Mourinho is more worried, his team is shocking.
“The only consolation is that it couldn’t be worse. This game is here for Bournemouth.
“Tracks look like they’re on vacation. I would fully expect Mourinho to make some changes.
But Keane insisted that Mourinho’s problems went deeper after Spurs had no shot on goal
“He has good options from the bench, but the two players he left out [Moura and Son] have not played very well.
“Sometimes the manager has to be brutal, which is the manager. He [Mourinho] has stated there that he has four or five world class players.
“Not Tottenham, Tottenham is an average team. Get Kane out of that team and they’re in big trouble. ‘
“They will constantly disappoint you, it’s in their DNA”
In the second half, Spurs did not improve after following their defeat at Sheffield United with a disappointing draw at Vitality Stadium.
They failed to register a shot at the goal, while Harry Kane only had a touch in the opposition box in the 78th minute.
One point did little to Spurs’s European ambitions, and Keane was relentless in his assessment of their current position in the table after their latest setback.
Harry Kane only had a touch in Bournemouth’s box in the 78th minute
Tottenham was poor tonight. Bournemouth showed a bit more struggle.
“They went to Sheffield [United], did not argue, made changes at half-time.
“It’s in Tottenham’s DNA, they will constantly disappoint you. The table does not lie, ninth, they deserve it there. ‘
“You deserve everything you get”
Keane continued his rants for the late game on Thursday-evening when Manchester United defeated Aston Villa 3-0.
After Bruno Fernandes led the controversial penalty against United, Mason Greenwood doubled their lead just before half-time with a spectacular effort.
But Keane was enraged at the role of Villa defender Tyrone Mings in the goal, with the central defender hanging too dry as he approached him for losing the ball before not closing the space at Greenwood.
Keane continued his outright bet at half-time between Aston Villa and Man United
‘I feel sorry for Villa, just at half-time, Mings is studying here, he is losing it, an experienced international player.
“If your central defenders aren’t brave enough to close the ball. He has to go two meters, he made the first mistake and that’s why teams are demoted if your experienced players don’t do the basics.
No sympathy for Aston Villa. Before the game I thought a little bit of energy, but defending defenders like that you deserve everything you get. ‘
The 48-year-old criticized Tyrone Mings for not ending Mason Greenwood’s strike
Pogba wants to be a frontrunner on social media
Paul Pogba is often scolded for not taking enough responsibility on the field during his time at Manchester United.
The Frenchman scored his first goal since April 2019 at Villa Park, as the Red Devils became the first Premier League team in history to win four consecutive games by a margin of three goals.
But he did not escape further criticism of his leadership qualities, as Keane erased and accused him shy away from being a leader in United’s locker room and focusing too much on social media.
Keane reintroduced Paul Pogba and said he doesn’t want to be a leader on the field
“We’ve said Pogba should take the lead in the team more in the past two years. I don’t think he wants to be a leader.
“I think Pogba will enjoy entering Maguire, with different leadership skills, Fernandes also on the field, Pogba likes that, he doesn’t want to be the captain.
“He wants to be the protagonist on social media, but on the field he thinks ‘I’ll be happy about that, I’ll just be under the radar’. He looks like he’s having a little more fun. ‘
‘Manchester United is starting to get exciting again’
Despite the relentlessly negative reviews Keane had made during the evening, the Irishman did retain some praise for his former squad.
The 48-year-old believes that the youngsters of United have brought the paint back to Old Trafford, best wishes Greenwood and urging the youngster to satisfy his hunger.
But Keane also warned that there was still a long way for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men to think about winning the Premier League again.
However, Keane managed to reserve some praise for his former side and Greenwood
“The best thing about football is to score a goal. Good luck to the child, dreams are made of that. Hold that hunger. ‘
United is starting to get exciting again. This type of kids gets Man United back, scores goals, plenty to do in winning titles. But good luck to these kids.
“Man United fans want to see good attacking young players, they will buzz tonight.”
