A nearby driver saw the clerk stumble out of the store and reported the incident to police while the employee was rushed to hospital.

Relatives told ABC13 he is alert and talking and is expected to survive.

The suspect, who police say was 25 to 35 years old and weighed between 230 and 280 pounds, is still at large.
