The father of Australian politician Chris Bowen has died.

Bowen, Minister for Climate Change and Energy, spoke about the death of his father, Ross Bowen, on Wednesday morning.

“Mum lost her husband and constant companion of 53 years,” Mr Bowen said.

“Dad was a quiet man, but the hardest worker I have ever known and a fighter for what he believed in.

‘He went to work at 11pm every night and worked all night to support my brother and me.

“He never met anyone he didn’t want to help or support.

‘I will miss his favorite jokes and sayings. His favorite is “It’s time for a beer sandwich, but I don’t need bread.”

Ross previously worked the midnight-to-dawn shift at NRMA, where he was responsible for dispatching help to roadside breakdowns.
