Rosario Dawson reflected on her time filming the live-action Disney Haunted Mansion on location with Jamie Lee Curtis and the rest of her A-list cast.
“Jamie, you know, Tiffany and I [Haddish] it was definitely besides us being around [her]Dawson said. People magazine, adding that starring alongside the Oscar winner it was part of the “beauty of” doing the project.
Filming on location in New Orleans allowed the cast, which also includes LaKeith Stanfield, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Dan Levy, Jared Leto, Winona Ryder and Hasan Minhaj, to bond during production, even when they weren’t on set.
“It was really beautiful how [director Justin Simien] he brought us together and gave us all the crystals, and we were reading the script together and just creating these nice moments,” Dawson continued. “Tiffany would throw these house parties where she would do her nails and henna, and [DeVito] would come with jeff [Kurland]our customer.”
Chase W. Dillon, who plays Dawson’s son in the film, regularly hosted parties during production, he shared.
He even hosted the closing party for the cast and crew after they finished filming: “It’s so amazing.
We just had fun.”
The live-action adaptation of Haunted Mansion, Based on the Disney attraction of the same name, it has a similar story to the 2003 film, starring Eddie Murphy. Instead of a real estate agent, his wife, and children being summoned to the haunted mansion, however, the 2023 version follows a single mother named Gabbie (Dawson), who hires a tour guide, psychic, priest, and historian to help exorcise her newly purchased mansion.
“Jamie texted me after he saw it, you know, and we’re just, really excited about it,” said the silly said the actress. “I think it’s a really special movie, and it’s very different from the [2003 Haunted Mansion]. It has a totally different vibe, and [Simien] they will say that it is very black, it is very New Orleans”.
