The roof of the Piccadilly Theater in central London fell to the public tonight during a performance of Death Of A Salesman.
The West End auditorium only had to be cleared 20 minutes from the show after part of the ceiling fell on members of the audience.
Several spectators suffered minor injuries after the incident and witnesses described shouts from nearby audience members in the Grand Circle.
More than 1,000 people were evacuated from the popular location, the Met Police said.
Emergency services were called to the theater shortly before 8 p.m. after part of the ceiling crashed into the auditorium.

Arthur Miller's Death Of A Salesman on the West End plays Wendell Pierce, who became known as detective Bunk Moreland in The Wire and later played Meghan Markle's father as Robert Zane in legal drama, Suits.
Pierce, who plays Willy Loman in the show, apologized for those forced to leave the show.
The show had to be canceled while the ceiling was being inspected and made safe for the public to return.
Outside of the 91-year-old theater, the Pierce apologized to the audience and asked them to come back to see the production.
The American actor joked in an online clip on Twitter: & # 39; I didn't mean it would be that way. & # 39;
He added: I want to thank you all for a safe evacuation and my apologies and we are happy that no one was hurt and I ask you all to come back and see our production.
& # 39; We are so honored that you came this evening and we are so sorry that this happened unfortunately. & # 39;

A video posted on social media showed firefighters who arrived on site and closed the road outside before they burst into the location.
Witness Martin George, who was sitting in the Great Circle, said that shouting came from the audience while part of the ceiling fell down.
The 41-year-old said: & # 39; About 10 minutes after the performance you heard this light dripping sound in the (Grand) circle and people looked around, wondering what was going on, but the game went on.
& # 39; As the minutes passed, the dripping became more frequent and it sounded like more water was coming through the ceiling, causing a few people to stand up and move.
& # 39; The sound eventually became so loud that we got up and started to leave, wondering what would happen.
& # 39; When we got up, this huge piece of ceiling, about three to four meters wide, crashed.
& # 39; At that time, people were screaming and everyone got up and streamed down the stairs. & # 39;

More than 700 people were within the Shaftesbury Avenue location, which lasted 45 minutes in the performance of the national theater of The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time, when the incident occurred.
