Ron DeSantis involved in a car accident: Florida Governor and his team involved in a collision in Tennessee

The 2024 presidential hopeful, Governor Ron DeSantis, was involved in a car accident in Tennessee, his campaign confirmed to DailyMail.com.

“This morning, the governor was in a car accident while traveling to an event in Chattanooga, Tennessee,” DeSantis campaign press secretary Bryan Griffin told DailyMail.com on Tuesday.

“He and his team are uninjured,” Griffin continued.

“We appreciate the nation’s prayers and well wishes for their continued protection during the election campaign.”

The Governor of Florida and his team they were involved in the accident while traveling to an event in Chattanooga, Tennessee. DeSantis is expected to hold three fundraisers across the state this morning and into the evening.

It was not immediately clear how many staff members were traveling with the governor or if his wife, Casey, was with him.

DeSantis has been in the middle of the campaign since shaking up his staff and overall media strategy in recent weeks.

The governor has held multiple fundraisers in Tennessee in July thus far and participated in the Tennessee Republican Statesmen’s Dinner last week.

He’s doing a tour of the southern states this week, and then he’ll head back to Iowa to continue his ‘Never Back Down’ bus tour across the early voting state.

Iowa is the first stop the governor will make as he speeds up his bus tour to New Hampshire, South Carolina and other early voting states.

DeSantis is also expected to deliver a speech at the Iowa Republican Lincoln Day Dinner in Des Moines on Friday.

He received the endorsement of the Florida Police Chiefs Association (FPCA) on Monday, an organization that had previously endorsed his opponent, former President Donald Trump.

According to a DailyMail.com poll, Trump remains the clear frontrunner in a poll of Republicans in New Hampshire.

Trump has seen his edge over DeSantis lose in a head-to-head matchup

The Republican nomination race is currently a race between Trump and DeSantis. But both have seen their rivals eat up their numbers among New Hampshire primary voters.

Although DeSantis remains in second place, it has fallen from 18 percent in April to 15 percent in July, according to the survey by JL Partners.

Overall, the poll of 591 registered Republicans and others planning to file for a primary ballot shows Trump winning support at 42 percent, up from 51 percent in April.

However, Trump’s lead over the field has shrunk by six points since April. He also slips into one-on-one matchups.

His lead over DeSantis is reduced by three points. In April, he led by 53 points to 33 points. Now it is 50 points to 33.
