The Boston Red Sox officially have the number one prospect in baseball.

Roman Anthony took first place in Baseball America’s Top 100 Teams Ranking following the graduation of Tampa Bay Rays infielder Junior Caminero from prospect status. Position players are no longer considered prospects after reaching 130 MLB at-bats, which Caminero accomplished on Tuesday.

The Red Sox selected Anthony in the second round of the 2022 draft. Since then, all the 20-year-old has done is hit. He finished his first full professional season with Double-A Portland and continued that success in 2024, recently earning a promotion to Triple-A Worcester.

“Anthony was one of the breakout stars of the 2023 season and continued to impress throughout 2024,” Baseball America wrote. “He’s in a position to reach the majors before he turns 21 and has a combination of power and plate discipline that should serve him well in the years to come.”

Anthony boasts a .286/.379/.499 slash line with 18 homers and 79 RBIs in 109 games this season. He hasn’t missed a beat since his promotion. In 25 games with Worcester, the outfielder has a .949 OPS with eight doubles, three homers and 14 RBIs.

Five Red Sox prospects Join Anthony on Baseball America’s Top 100. Marcelo Mayer is at No. 10, Kristian Campbell at No. 24, Kyle Teel at No. 25, Braden Montgomery at No. 60 and Franklin Arias at No. 93.
