This is the horrifying moment an 88-year-old dog walker was dragged to her death after a skateboarder became trapped by her leash.
In shocking CCTV, shown to a judge in Moscow, two elderly women can be seen strolling through a city park walking their dogs, one of which was on a long leash.
Suddenly, skater Igor Berin, 56, runs past the women and gets caught in the head, snatching one of the retirees and dragging her down a path.
Prosecutors told the court the victim suffered serious head injuries when he crashed onto the paved road and later died in hospital.
Berin walked free from a Russian court after pleading guilty to causing death by negligence at a hearing on November 18.
Horrifying CCTV footage shows the moment a skateboarder dragged a pensioner to her death after becoming trapped by her dog’s leash. This frame shows the moments before the tragedy unfolded.
The skater, named Igor Berin, runs past the women and gets caught in the lead.
They then pick up the pensioner and drag her to the ground and along a path. Prosecutors told the court the pensioner suffered serious head injuries.
Berin was sentenced to one year of “restricted freedom” following the incident in May.
This sentence means that Berin must wear a house arrest tag on his ankle, stay home during certain hours and is prohibited from attending any mass events.
Prosecutors said that although Berin had stopped after hitting the victim in the crash six months ago, he continued skidding and later told police he didn’t realize she was seriously injured.
The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office said after the hearing: “After the collision, the pensioner in serious condition was taken to hospital.
“He did not regain consciousness for three weeks and died on June 15.”
