Police will allege champion cyclist Rohan Dennis drove a ute “recklessly”, leading to the death of his Olympic wife Melissa Hoskins, court documents reveal.
Dennis, 33, will face Adelaide Magistrates Court next Wednesday to answer charges over the death of Hoskins, who was allegedly hit by the van driven by Dennis on December 30 outside the couple’s home in Adelaide’s northern hinterland.
After the incident, Mrs. Hoskins, a 32-year-old mother of two, was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment but died from serious injuries overnight.

Dennis was later arrested on charges of dangerous driving and reckless driving.
The ABC reports that documents filed with the court describe that police will allege that Mr. Dennis drove “recklessly or at a speed or in a manner that was dangerous to any person.”
‘And by that culpable negligence, recklessness or other conduct, caused the death of Melissa Marie Dennis,’ the document alleges.
Dennis, who has been granted bail, attended a memorial service for Mrs Hoskins on what would have been her 33rd birthday.
Dennis attended a memorial service for Hoskins in Adelaide along with the couple’s two children.
He was photographed hugging guests before the ceremony began and arrived with the couple’s two children.
A funeral was held in Perth on January 17 for Ms Hoskins, who competed as a cyclist for Australia at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Mr. Dennis is a Olympic team pursuit silver medalist in 2012 and world track team pursuit champion in 2011.
He also won the Tour Down Under in 2015.
